Pomodoro Timer Get it on Google Play

Privacy

The timer collects nothing, sends nothing, and loads nothing from anyone else.

What the timer does

Nothing about how you use the timer leaves your device. It runs in your own browser: there is no server call when you start, pause, or finish a session, and nothing for us to log about when or how long you worked. As with any website, loading a page sends the normal HTTP request metadata needed to serve it.

These values are saved in your browser’s local storage:

  • the lengths you chose for focus, short and long breaks, and how many sessions come before a long break
  • whether the next phase starts automatically, and whether a sound plays when a phase ends
  • the current timer: which phase it is in, how many sessions you have finished in this cycle, and when the phase ends or how much time is left

They exist so the timer comes back the way you left it after a reload. They stay on your device, are never transmitted, and clearing your browser data removes them.

None of them identifies you, and there is no account, no login, and no profile attached to any of them.

Third parties

There are none.

This site has no ads, no tag manager, no session replay, no embedded video, no social widgets, no comment system, and no hosted fonts. Every file the page loads — the styles, the scripts, the fonts, the images — is served from this site’s own domain. No other company is told that you visited, and there is nothing here that could tell them.

That also means the site sets no cookies at all, which is why you were never asked about any.

Counting visits

This site does not count page views yet. If it starts to, it will work the way this section describes, and the date at the top of this page will change.

Counting would happen server-side when the request is served; there is no analytics JavaScript in your browser and no cookie.

The page-view counter would be self-hosted alongside the site. The internal counting request contains the page path, the browser identification string (User-Agent), and the referring page (Referer). Your IP address is not part of it.

Those values would produce aggregate page-view counts, not a visitor profile. They would not be used to follow one person from page to page.

There would be no consent banner for this measurement because it uses no client-side tracking, cookies, or third-party service. No other company would receive the page-view data.

Server logs

Separately from the counts above, requests for these pages reach a web server, which records the usual request metadata — IP address, timestamp, path, user agent — as part of operating and securing the service. These logs are not used to build profiles and are not combined with anything from the timer.

The Android apps

The Pomodoro Timer and Focus Machine Android apps go one step further: they have no internet permission at all, so they cannot send anything anywhere. The apps’ own privacy policy is below.

Android app privacy policy

This section covers Pomodoro Timer (app.focusmachine.pomodoro) and Focus Machine (app.focusmachine). They are built from the same source code.

The apps do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no crash reporting.

They save, in their private storage on your phone only: your timer settings; the current timer, so it survives the app being closed; whether Do Not Disturb during focus is on, and whether the app turned it on itself; the number of focus sessions and focus minutes per day, for the stats; and, in Focus Machine, your ambient noise and theme choices. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. If Android’s system backup is on, this data may be included in the backup your phone makes to your own Google account, which we have no access to.

The permissions they ask for, and why:

  • Notifications: the countdown on the lock screen and the alert when a phase ends. Optional; the timer still runs without it.
  • Vibration: the vibration when a phase ends.
  • Exact alarms: ending each phase on time while the phone is asleep.
  • Run at startup: putting a running timer back after the phone restarts.
  • Do Not Disturb access: only if you turn on Do Not Disturb during focus and grant access in Android’s settings.
  • Foreground service and media playback (Focus Machine only): keeping ambient noise playing during a focus session with the screen off.

There is no internet, location, microphone, contacts, or file access. The apps contain no ads and no in-app purchases, and collect nothing from anyone, including children.
